1 down .. 29 to go

(1 radiation treatment down and 29 to go, that is)

i got my first radiation treatment complete .. i arrived at the radiation oncology office at 10:05 and walked out at 10:38 .. sheesh .. almost wasn't worth bothering to put makeup on for lol

yea .. i was nervous .. its just so difficult to imagine that this radiation thing, xrays i've been getting since i was a child, is killing off my cells .. that something that i've perceived as harmless for so long is what is quite possibly going to save my life

they radiated me 11 second from the front, flipped the machine over and zapped me 11 second from the back .. treatment complete

somebody get out the calculator please .. 11 seconds per side; 2 sides per day; once per day for 5 days, and continuing for 6 weeks .. is what?  11 minutes of radiation?  i'm still wrapping my brain around that one

but i survived .. it hurt as much as any ordinary xray :)

then i worked on budgets for the office for around 5 hours then slipped in a quick little nap before the office called .. i need to remember to turn off my phone .. i really really needed a nap .. i haven't been sleeping too good lately ya know !!!

anyway, i just wanted y'all to know i survived my first radiation treatment lol

oh .. and i had a little time this morning to do a little before and after with the camera .. one picture is me before makeup, the other after makeup  and i'm taking votes .. which one would you least object to if it showed up on your doorstep? ROFL (now be nice!!!)

#1 NO Makeup

#2 Makeup & BALD

#3 Makeup & Cap

now don't forget to vote on your way out LOL .. ((waving to my adorable niece Amy who dropped by yesterday and left a comment in my UK Journal xoxoxoxoxo)

I say #2.  Although #1 is good too.  I say #2.

I say #2 but only because your smile is brighter and you can see the spirit within you shining radiantly....must be the radiation making you so radiant. :)

I like #2  :)

You have hair growing back!!!!!!!!!!

I don't remember you telling us your hair was growing back Pam.

I vote for all three because you are smiling in them all.

Deffinitely #2! Let's face it honey we ALL look better with a little makeup. Unfortunately I rarely take time to put makeup on! Then of course I run into all the people I know, unlike the days I look good and see NO ONE! The treatments take almost no time, see it's less time consuming than chemo! Rock on :)

I would welcome #1,2 or 3 if it showed up at my door with a hug and a "Come on In!"

let me tell you all of us look better even the movie stars with the makeup.
I never leave the house without mine.
God bless you.  I am so proud of you , I know this is hard.

Any one of those lovely ladies is welcome at my doorstep at any time!
:)

Wow...I had no idea the radiation time added up to such a small thing.  It is a lot to get your head around.

Glad it went well.  Have a great Thanksgiving.

As you well know, it only gets harder, with each treatment, but oh, so worth it.  My husband had 30 treatments, very quick zaps, in a very small concentrated area, his throat.  His skin began to look burned, because it was! But now, over 2 years later, and no cancer, we know what he went through brings us to where we are now.  Good luck!

I think most women look better with make-up except a few lucky ones. You look fine to me with or with out the cap. Still wishing you good luck. Paula

Me too.  I'd welcome you no matter what, but I vote for #2.  You are one pretty lady, Pam.

Pamela -  O  K   Thinking logically about 'the VOTE' - for the summer surely #1 or #2 would be my pick.   HOWEVER  for winter i definitely say #3 or you might get really cold since we lose heat from the headbone! :)

What I see is a lovely person with a great smile! Maybe these short treatments will help that smile stay bright. Blessings, Sandy

Pam,

I'd be so thrilled if you knocked on my door I wouldn't care if you were green or purple! I'd pull you in here and we'd take the best care of you. Glad your first treatment is under your belt, can't wait till you finished with all of them. Have you come up with a way to get to the treatments later when you're more worn out from them? You just don't know what I'd give to be able to drive you to all of them. I know that you have friends there that are just waiting to be asked. Call them, let them help you.

Keep smiling, I love that smile in picture #2.

Hi Pam

Gee darlin...with those dazzling eyes and the gorgeous smile, it would be wonderful to see you on my doorstep (I am just right up the road) anytime. :) You are so beautiful inside and out...it is like looking at a flower to see you. And when I got the great joy of hearing your voice for the first time on the phone this past summer, you sounded just they way I thought you would. I could tell before ever talked to you, that you would have the voice of an angel. :)

Always, Carly http://ellipsissuddenlycarly.blogspot.com

I'll have to vote for the last one...  having nothing to do with the make-up/no make-up issue, and not because I don't like you bald.  I just LOVE that sparkly little chemo cap!  Lisa  :-]

If you had a need, my door would be open. Cap, no cap, no makeup, no clothes... whatever.

Hi Pam, I'm glad you got your first radiation treatment behind you. I think the anticipation of waiting is sometimes harder than the actual event. And as far as my vote, you can come to my house in any way you feel comfortable! I think you look beautiful in all 3! If you come in the morning, you'll we could have a darker circles party and I am not even on chemo!LOL I love your new cool tatoos too.  I hope you have a nice day with your daughter and family tomorrow. Wait until she sees how much work it REALLY is to cook a Thanksgiving dinner. I think it's sweet that she's going to give it a try.

Awe!!! You're cute no matter which way!

My friend is just starting chemo, her hair is getting real thin so she bought a wig.  It's darling! Her husband didn't even notice she had it on, it's so near her regular style and coloring!  She wore it to church last Sunday. I told her I was jealous! It's so cute!!

Her husband is bald, so when they started commenting on her hair he said "Next Sunday she'll be here in her normal hair, because it's my turn to wear the wig!"   Later he said "Now, I'll have to wear it or I'm going to have some broken body parts!  Bet he does too!  We just love their attitude!  And yours too!  I think they are putting "attitude pills" in the chemo treatments now!  What do you think?  Lots of hugs!
Darlene
